HA1 Task 1 - Technical Glossary

A raster is a grid of x and y coordinates on a display space. (And for three-dimensional images, a z coordinates.) A raster image file identifies which of these coordinates to illuminate in monochrome or colour values.
A vector Image, as an image made up of different sharp shapes that require no pixels. With Vector images, you can zoom in an amount, with the quality of the image changing, because it’s completely sharp. The Computer uses mathematical points and lines in order to join up shapes to create these images.
A minute area of illumination on a display screen, one of many from which an image is composed of. Each pixel is recognized by the computer with code. A certain combination of ones and twos will code for a special pixel of color.

Color depth, also known as bit depth, is either the number of bits used to indicate three-color of a single pixel, in a bit mapped image or video frame buffer, or the number of bits used for each color component of a single pixel.

A model describes how color will appear on the computer screen or on paper. Three popular color models are: CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black) RGB (Red, Green, and Blue)


This an example of resolution, As you can see each picture changes depending on how many pixels are being set. every picture has a different amount of pixels, the more pixels, the better the quality as it looks better, with more detail in terms of pixels.




Anti-Aliasing creating the illusion that a sharp edge has been made smooth, just by adding different shades on to the end of every sharp jiggered edge. As you can see, the first line is sharp and unchanged, where as the second line has been added shading of pixels at the end of every sharp corner, to give the impression that its smooth or smoother.


Aspect Ratio  is the correlation between ratios, for example, 1:6:1 is the same as 8:5. usually represented as X and Y to show that X is always with Y and so X is always X and Y is always Y.



These are all the different types of File formats used today. Different file format are used for different types information that needs to be stored, for example, MP3 is used to store music files and HTML (hyper text markup language) is used for programming.

Compression is the process of converting a large file into a smaller one by compressing the information.

The would be a box with hole in it, the light would flow through that hole and through the lens, but the image would be captured upside down, kind of like the human eye.

but now days, technology has advanced, to this:

 
Optimizing is when you rearrange or rewrite (data, software, etc.) to improve efficiency of retrieval or processing.

Keeping your digital artwork safe and protected is very important, as it could be stolen or changed if ever tampered with. That's why portable storage devices are used now days, or even stationary storage devices such as CD's, USB's, hard drives, cloud storage.
